Monterey & Carmel Beach Weddings
Many of the calls I receive about officiating start off with asking about a location. By far, the most popular inquiry is about getting married on Carmel Beach or a beach on the Monterey Peninsula. Where do you start? Do you need a permit? What are the prettiest, most scenic beaches? Which beach is the most private and the best fit for my group?
Fortunately, we have a lot of great options in Monterey County. Not only in Monterey and Carmel but also in Pacific Grove, Marina and down in Big Sur. For the past 11 years I have been officiating weddings of all sizes on our local beaches and I know all of the "ins and outs" of what is required.
Are you just starting to plan your beach wedding in Monterey? Feel free to give me a call at 831-601-1650, email me at [email protected] or simply fill out my contact form. If you already have an officiant and you are just looking for advice, consider hiring me as a consultant (more details by email). Why re-invent the wheel when you can have a local expert act as your guide?
One quick note about setting up a wedding on a beach in Monterey County. They all require some type of permit. The worse thing you can do is just "show up" only to have a park ranger / local PD come and shut you down (sadly, I have heard stories of this happening and early on in my career, witnessed it first hand). Also, if someone else has a permit and you show up, you will have to move to a new location "on the fly."
As a wedding officiant, I (and my wedding company) are privileged to have a special wedding permit for smaller weddings (10 or less) for many of our wedding beach areas in Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. Additionally, for larger events, we know what it takes to obtain a permit and if using our services, our insurance is included.
Getting married on Carmel Beach or Monterey Beach is a wonderful idea -- just make sure you are prepared so that you have the most enjoyable, memorable wedding.
